Think About It

If you had to start your yarn stash over from scratch, how much of it would you purchase again?

That's the question I'm asking myself after what happened on Thursday. I came home from running errands and our house was on fire. Standing in our living room with smoke swirling around me was a surreal experience I hope to never go through again.

Faced with a split second decision of what to grab on the way out of the house, the bewildered smoky cats won out over my yarn stash. We ultimately lost two rooms and the entire house is smoke damaged (sadly, my stash smells like it's spent a good long time in a biker bar). Our new "normal" is living in a hotel with two kittens - quite an experience (and not one I'd heartily endorse). At this point we're not sure how long it will take to put the house back in a habitable state. I guess in looking on the bright side - there's not much to do in a hotel room - maybe I'll finally get some knitting done.

Yarn Extravaganza

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I've posted. It seems as though time keeps escaping from me but I'm not all that sure where it's going....The adoption is keeping me pretty busy these days - I'm moderating an agency support group for folks who were all logged in to adopt from China around the same time we are. It's a tremendous group of people and I've found some fellow knitters there. It's nice to know I won't be the only one lugging my yarn and needles to China!

In other news, my beloved hubby agreed to go with me to Stitches West this year. I've never been, but I've heard the market has yarn as far as the eye can see. I don't need more yarn, but the idea of so many choices in one place is irresistible. If anyone has any strategies for tackling the market in an organized way instead of my currently planned method of spinning around in sheer panic as I try to decide what to look at first, I'm all ears!
